Meeting Report
The goal of the CLME project is the sustainable provision of goods and services by the shared living marine resources in the wider Caribbean through robust co-operative governance. This goal is expected to be delivered through three main outcomes:
-
An analysis of transboundary issues and identified priority transboundary actions (TDA). This will form the technical and scientific basis for:
-
Identification of reforms and investments for managing the shared living resources (Strategic Action Programme – SAP); and,
-
Target projects aimed at strengthening the policy cycle and early implementation of the SAP. These projects are expected to contribute further to the understanding of the issues and will demonstrate approaches of potential interest to the wider region, both informing the analysis (TDA) and the means to address the problems (SAP).
The CLME project design foresaw the need to provide a series of workshops (25 -30th January 2010) to initiate the TDA/SAP process and an international consultant (Dr Peter Whalley) was recruited to facilitate these workshops. The CLME Project Co-ordination Unit (PCU) assembled experts representing the Technical Task Team (TTT- who would be responsible for the TDA/SAP process), the Stakeholder Advisory Group (STAG) and the Project Advisory Group (PAG) in Cartagena for the six day series of workshops.
